A note from our co-founder: ClutchKit salutes Cecile Richards

Dear ClutchKit Community,

We mourn the loss of the great Cecile Richards, devoted advocate for reproductive justice. As the President of PPFA, Cecile fought tirelessly against many attempts to restrict reproductive rights and defund basic health care. We all remember her kind and clear responses to hostile senators at endless government hearings about reproductive rights.

What the public didn’t always see was Cecile’s devoted behind-the-scenes work with state leaders and resisters on behalf of women and the grassroots movement she ignited across the country. It was exciting and empowering. She took time to meet with students, health care providers, community leaders, and individuals who cared about gender equality and reproductive rights. I used to call her the road warrior, as she flew across the country, with a spirit of warmth, care, inclusivity, and strong grit. She was a beautiful force.

Cecile helped us all recognize the urgency of women’s reproductive health, the significance of access to health care, and the connection to gender equality. Women will never be equal in our society without the ability to determine whether and when to have children.

At ClutchKit, we are focusing on a piece of that mission – providing young people with the tools to prevent unintended pregnancies. Cecile used to say, “When women are free to make our own decisions, work hard, and follow our dreams, we are unstoppable.” We believe that too.

If you’d like to take action today, help us get ClutchKits into the hands of those women who need them most, by making a donation to our ClutchKit Project.
